[proposal] DJAGIL arts residency at Tataoim

  • DJAGIL is a band formed by Barbara Rodrix, LUIZGA, Djâmen, Juninho Ibitiruna and Nilson Dourado.
  • DJAGIL celebrates Gilberto Gil and Djavan’s artwork.
  • DJAGIL art residency will take place at Tataoim restaurant in Lisbon every Wednesday on the month of May.
  • After the month of residency we are going to produce a video about those Wednesdays and we are going to post on Instagram and YouTube.
  • The residency concept is a pocket show with the studies about Gilberto Gil and Djavan’s work.
  • We are going to expose at the restaurant a banner with NEAR Logo every event.
  • The member of this project are: Tataoim (tataoim.near); Barbara Rodrix (barbararodrix.near); LUIZGA; Juninho Ibitiruna; Djâmen and Nilson Dourado.

About the band:

The concept of the tribute band was design by the Brazilian songwriter Paulo Novaes in 2019 when he was living in Lisbon. During the pandemic, Paulo left to Brazil and he left the project to Barbara Rodrix to run in Portugal.
The project runs simultaneously in Brazil and Portugal.

BARBARA RODRIX

Barbara is a singer, songwriter, chef and entrepreneur from São Paulo. As a musician, she released two studio albums, worked with big names from Brazilian music, such as: MPB4, Zé Rodrix, Luiza Possi, Paulo Novaes and won the FAMPOP Festival in 2016.

LUIZGA

LUIZGA is singer/songwriter, co-founder of Rosa Neon and Graveola, two of the most important bands from the Minas Gerais State in Brazil.
LUIZGA has a huge research on Brazilian genres and native Brazilian people music, composing using the sounds of the forest a inspiration.

DJÂMEN

Djâmen was born in the South part of Brazil and since the early days shown music skills. He powered those skills in the Guri Project in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and studied improvisation and jazz music.

JUNINHO IBITURUNA

Juninho is an instrumentalist specialized in percussion and Afro-Brazilian genres. He is currently involved with the Brazilian carnival in Lisbon and teaches pandeiro (a Brazilian percussion) to many students around the world.
Juninho has already recorded with Diogo Picão, Broers and Berimbau Elétrico.

NILSON DOURADO

Nilson has a unique way of playing the acoustic guitar and his influences pass through African music and Brazilian Popular Music.
As a songwriter, Nison just released a full-length album called ‘Silêncio’.

About the residency:

The DJAGIL residency will take place in Tataoim restaurant in the heart of Lisbon during the month o May. Every Wednesday of the month they going to make a open rehearsal and open for the public the studies on Gilberto Gil and Djavan’s works.
During the residency we are going to document on film and release parts of the residency on YouTube and Instagram from those artist and from Tataoim.
After the rehearsal they going to make a live concert talking about the month of May process as the result of the residency.

FUNDS needed:
Production (food, transportation) – 100 DAI (tataoim.near)
LUIZGA - 180 DAI
Barbara Rodrix - 180 DAI (barbararodrix.near)
Juninho Ibitituna - 180 DAI
Djâmen - 180 DAI
Nilson Dourado - 180 DAI
TOTAL = 1000 DAI

Schedule:
The event will take place on every Wednesday of May 2023 from 7pm till 10pm at Tataoim restaurant in Lisbon.
