With the changes in the funding process we decided to take the month of June to restructure our project to better align it with the new paradigm. We are postponing the creation of the website/platform for THE FLOOR IS TOO HIGH and focusing in starting supporting and onboarding artists right away. The first artists to receive support have been selected. This way we will also be bringing more participants into VR DAO and building engagement in the forum, expanding not only the type of projects to support but also as a way to grow the council as we expect to have new members during the month of July. This is especially important due to the fact that two of our council members left VR DAO to focus on 3XR and we want to maintain the community aspect of the DAO.
Besides that we are also looking for partnerships with institutions to help support the activities of THE FLOOR IS TOO HIGH. So we will be starting to look for grants and support from art institutions.
In order to carry out the actions we planned for this DAO and achieve the goals proposed for the month of May, we request funding for the following costs and activities:
Administration and council activities: 125$ x 2 (All members) - 23.7 N

Development of a visual identity for the FLOOR IS TOO HIGH that will help approach institutions in order to obtain alternative sources of funding. We want this project to expand and gain autonomy and for that we need to craft an image that is able to convey our mission and our values.

Artistic research grant pilot program aiming to bring new people into the community, three artists per month, characterized by a deep relation with VR content production not only from an artistic perspective, but also from an institutional and commercial perspective. We hope that after three iterations some of these artists might become new members of the VR-DAO council, bringing artistic and technical knowledge that could be useful for the whole community.
3 artistic research grants: 3 x 750$ = 2250$ - 426.65 N
Curatorial activities (research, selection, contact, support with NEAR platforms): 1000$ - 189.62 N

As we are at the setting up stage of THE FLOOR IS TO HIGH it is not obviously apparent how this project can lead to a growth in the community, but our intent is to set a solid foundation that can allow an enthusiastic community to grow organically around Virtual Reality. Our goal with supporting VR artists is not to just support them on a single project. Our main objective is to help them become active members in the VR DAO and NEAR communities. We see any new artist that we support as someone who can bring more people with valuable knowledge and experience in VR.
We will measure the growth of the community through the following metrics:
- Number of projects funded;
- Number of mentors in THE FLOOR IS TOO HIGH;
- Monthly visits to THE FLOOR IS TOO HIGH website;
- Number of Exhibitions supported or organized by VR DAO;
- Number of wallets created through VR DAO activities (bounties, open call, live events, etc.);
- Activity in the virtual reality category in the forum;
- Number of members on VR DAO telegram channel (81 at the time of this post);
- Instagram followers.
With this project being at ground zero, we believe it would be premature to set specific goals for each category before we start the active process of supporting artists. We intend instead to, each month, compare the growth of these metrics and learn from the trend lines they suggest.
We intend to expand the council in the near future and we will be looking for someone that can help us with this side of things.
As the funding process of DAOs changes we would like to ask for your help to better adapt our proposals to the new system. Are there any metrics that you think would be relevant? Is there a standardized system that we should be following? We are open to any feedback and always willing to learn from the experience of other DAOs, so feel free to give any suggestions about how to better consolidate the outcomes of our community.
