Project Name: NEAR at NIGHT
Link: https://twitter.com/dleer_defi/status/1562191739820974091
Funding: 1 Month of Twitter Spaces (16 total sessions)

Background:
Over the past 9 months Trove Labs has used Twitter Spaces to keep our community up-to-date on the progress of Jump DeFi, @NEKO and @ClassyKangaroosNFT (which we are developing), inform the NEAR community about current events and host AMAs to support NEAR native projects.

A consistent community presence on Twitter Spaces is extremely important for onboarding new users from other blockchains. Twitter Spaces also act as a primary source of information and community interaction for many people in Web3.

Introduction:
On 8/21/22 members of the NEAR community gathered in Twitter Spaces organized by Ready Layer One to discuss community-led marketing efforts on NEAR. We recognized sentiment was in a critical state that required action from everyone that is active in the NEAR ecosystem.

During the meeting, @odin identified that other layer 1 ecosystems have multiple Twitter Spaces events ongoing at all times of day. However, this is not the case for the NEAR ecosystem. There were no regular NEAR ecosystem Twitter Spaces sessions for people to attend daily. This must change.

NEAR at NIGHT Twitter Spaces is one of the main activities set in motion following the community marketing discussion on 8/22. We took the initiative and began hosting NEAR at NIGHT daily at 10PM EST.

Professionally structured Twitter Spaces for the NEAR community, by the NEAR community, is one of the highest impact community-led marketing activities that exists at this time.

Project Description:
NEAR at NIGHT Twitter Spaces is a safe space for people to speak their mind about issues they see in the NEAR ecosystem. Founders provide updates on approaching milestones for their respective projects. The community receives information on how to participate in community-led marketing efforts. Community members are forming strong connections as we hangout and talk to each other after a long day of work.

Once a week NEAR at NIGHT will focus solely on community-led marketing efforts with support from Jared with Ready Layer One. The community will discuss what is working and what needs to change in regards to NEAR marketing.

In doing this, community members are empowered to take on a bigger role with marketing efforts. As NEAR at NIGHT continues to grow, we will connect with members of NEAR Foundation, NEAR Core and NEAR Marketing DAO to attend Twitter Spaces and hear first hand what the community has to say.

NEAR at NIGHT is scaling to its own Twitter account with hosts from around the world. Then, we can support multiple NEAR at NIGHT sessions per day to accommodate different time zones.

Stats:

  • NEAR at NIGHT attendance has ranged from 59 to a high of 708 listeners. 95 listeners typically attend and/or listen to the recording daily.
  • Trove Labs has hosted dozens of Twitter Spaces about the NEAR ecosystem prior to the launch of NEAR at NIGHT. We are trusted by the community to host Twitter Spaces that provide real value to listeners.
  • 9 QTY successful NEAR at NIGHT Twitter Spaces sessions to date

Requested Funds:
We are requesting funding for 1 month (4 weeks, Mon-Thurs) of NEAR at NIGHT Twitter Spaces from Monday 9/5 to Monday 10/3.

16 NEAR at NIGHT Twitter Spaces per month at a total cost of $4,134.40 (989 NEAR)

$258.40 (62 NEAR) per Spaces session

See below breakdown of costs including 1 host, 2 co-hosts and 1 researcher

  • Research / Create Agenda: 1 hour per day
  • Coordination: 30 minutes per day
  • Host Spaces: 1 hour per day

Breakdown of Zach Harmon time:

  • Research / Create Agenda: 1 hour per day
  • Co-Host Spaces: 1 hour per day

Breakdown of Brandon Cantu time:

  • Research / Create Agenda: 1 hour per day
  • Co-Host Spaces: 1 hour per day

Breakdown of Şenay Akdemir Bükrek time:

Breakdown of NEAR Giveaway:

  • Giveaway 5 NEAR ($20.90 USD) to a random attendee at every NEAR at NIGHT
  • 20N ($83.60) per week, total of 80N ($334.40 USD) per month

Giveaway:
Hosting giveaways is a great way to bring more people into NEAR at NIGHT. Currently, we giveaway JUMP token and NEKO token airdrops to attendees of NEAR at NIGHT. We propose including NEAR giveaways during NEAR at NIGHT as well.

The plan is to host a 5 NEAR giveaway in every NEAR at NIGHT session. This is 20 NEAR per week and 80 NEAR total per month.

Continued Impact:
NEAR at NIGHT is quickly becoming the main social landing zone for the NEAR community to assemble on a daily basis. Community members finally feel like they have a voice to discuss issues and ask questions about NEAR. Strong friendships and connections are being formed. People are learning how to get involved with NEAR marketing efforts. Founders have a platform to give the community consistent updates on their project milestones.

We are working closely with NEAR native project founders, artists and creators to coordinate attendance for speaking at NEAR at NIGHT on a daily basis. This brings awareness to upcoming project milestones and activates the community to support the various project’s marketing efforts.

NEAR at NIGHT is expanding to multiple sessions per day to accommodate different time zones. We are searching for leaders in the NEAR ecosystem who live in different geographical locations to become hosts for NEAR at NIGHT. When we accomplish this, NEAR will finally have a regular presence on Twitter Spaces similar to the other L1 ecosystems.

Success Measurements:

  • Measure growth and retention in listener attendance
  • Consistent attendance from important figures within the NEAR ecosystem including Founders, NEAR Foundation, NEAR Marketing DAO, NEAR Core, etc. to speak with the community and deliver valuable information that listeners want to come back to.
  • Track progress of NEAR at NIGHT expansion to multiple sessions per day to accommodate NEAR community around the world.
  • Survey attendees monthly to determine the effectiveness of NEAR at NIGHT and request feedback on how to improve.

David Leer - Host & Coordination
David is the Co-Founder of Trove Labs; developer of NEAR native projects Jump DeFi & NEKO.
David began investing into crypto seriously in 2020; learning how to utilize DeFi to reach financial freedom. David started making crypto content in 2021 to teach others about DeFi and NFTs.

David was a first mover in many alt-layer 1 ecosystems before discovering NEAR in December 2021. At that time, David realized NEAR Protocol is special and he decided to devote his life to building in the ecosystem. David transitioned from a career in engineering to focus on Jump DeFi, NEKO, and the growth of the NEAR Protocol ecosystem full time. David is a passionate leader who works hard to empower people within the NEAR Protocol community.

As host of NEAR at NIGHT, David is responsible for maintaining engaging conversation through the duration of the Twitter Spaces. David moderates the conversation to ensure all speakers feel safe to speak their mind. Additionally, David participates in daily research for the NEAR at NIGHT agenda and coordinates with Şenay to schedule project Founders to attend as speakers. Finally, David is leading the charge on scaling NEAR at NIGHT to multiple sessions per day by finding responsible leaders within the NEAR ecosystem to become hosts at different time zones.

Zach Harmon - Co-Host
Zach Harmon has been in the crypto space as a participant/consumer for over 3 years. In January 2022 he transitioned to a more active role building in the crypto community; specifically on NEAR Protocol. Zach has a degree in Education and a passion for helping people learn. The crypto space can be extremely difficult for newcomers, Zach and his partners are working to make the transition from web2 to web3 easier. Zach has worked with NEARNFTDAO and he is a core member of the WGMI Solutions Team working with various projects on Web3, Funding, and Marketing Solutions.

As Co-Host of NEAR at NIGHT, Zach helps lead conversation and build out the daily Spaces agenda. Zach is also the main moderator during NEAR at NIGHT. He makes sure speakers requests are accepted quickly, he pins important links during different points of discussion and mutes/removes any speakers that are being disrespectful to others.

Brandon Cantu - Co-Host
Brandon is a former Laboratory Manager with extensive experience in managing project teams and developing business operations. As Co-Founder of Trove labs, he lives out his passion for web 3.0 by overseeing the product development of Jump DeFi, Good Fortune Felines, & other projects from throughout the crypto ecosystem. He provides a practical viewpoint to other projects/founders in an effort to bring their visions to fruition in the web 3.0 space.

As Co-Host of NEAR at NIGHT, Brandon helps lead conversation and build out the daily Spaces agenda. Brandon is also in charge of distributing JUMP token and NEKO token airdrop giveaways to winners who attended NEAR at NIGHT.

Şenay Akdemir Bükrek - Research & Coordination
Şenay has been a full time crypto degen since 2020. She enjoys playing around on testnet betas, following early products, supporting builders and being a dedicated member of NFT communities. Şenay is a major contributor to NEAR native projects; working as Community Manager for the Mr. Brown Project and as a Neko Ambassador. Şenay is committed to the women in crypto movement and LGBTI+s adaptation to crypto.

Şenay has a background in Labor Economics and Industry Relations. She has worked in different sectors of administrative duties including Personal Assistant, Executive Assistant, Logistics, Governance, Project Management, HR and Residence Planning for more than 15 years. She is passionate about giving back to society by participating in multiple NGOs including Purple Roof Women’s Shelter, Greenpeace and Doğa Derneği(Nature Organization).

Şenay is supporting NEAR at NIGHT with research and coordination. She helps assemble the daily agenda by finding important news and events happening in crypto and the NEAR ecosystem. Şenay reaches out to Founders of NEAR native projects to schedule them as a speaker during NEAR at NIGHT.

Hi.
Talking about the Near ecosystem is a good suggestion. Clarify some points. You said that you recognized the problem critically, how was this problem analyzed? Describe the work in more detail and what will the payment be for? Are you going to distribute tokens to Non-random participants, how will these participants be selected? You don’t think that bots will come for rewards and then come out, you need efficiency of actions. Does the NEKO and JUMP tokens have liquidity?
Thx

“You said that you recognized the problem critically, how was this problem analyzed?”

I believe there is a misunderstanding in what is noted here. “We recognized sentiment was in a critical state that requires action from everyone…” means the people who attended the marketing meeting on 8/21 agreed that community sentiment and marketing efforts are in a very bad spot. This is evident to anyone who is actively working or participating in the NEAR ecosystem, formal analysis isn’t needed to see that.

“Describe the work in more detail and what will the payment be for?”

Please reference the breakdown of costs in the initial post. This is for our time to organize the daily agenda, coordinate speakers, and host Twitter Spaces. Additionally, a major portion of the coordination efforts will be spent on organizing multiple NEAR at NIGHT sessions per day to accommodate different timezones.

Breakdown of David Leer time:

  • Research / Create Agenda: 1 hour per day
  • Coordination: 30 minutes per day
  • Host Spaces: 1 hour per day

Breakdown of Zach Harmon time:

  • Research / Create Agenda: 1 hour per day
  • Co-Host Spaces: 1 hour per day

Breakdown of Brandon Cantu time:

  • Research / Create Agenda: 1 hour per day
  • Co-Host Spaces: 1 hour per day

Breakdown of Şenay Akdemir Bükrek time:

  • Research / Create Agenda: 1 hour per day

Breakdown of NEAR Giveaway:

  • Giveaway 5 NEAR ($20.90 USD) to a random attendee at every NEAR at NIGHT
  • 20N ($83.60) per week, total of 80N ($334.40 USD) per month

Are you going to distribute tokens to Non-random participants, how will these participants be selected?

To enter the giveaway, you must Like + RT the NEAR at NIGHT tweet. Then, we use tweet picker to select the winner(s). Once winners are selected, we cross reference the list of NEAR at NIGHT attendees to confirm only active listeners are awarded with the giveaway prize.

You don’t think that bots will come for rewards and then come out, you need efficiency of actions.

Bots are a non-issue when we cross reference winners with attendees of NEAR at NIGHT.

Does the NEKO and JUMP tokens have liquidity?

NEKO token and JUMP token do not have liquidity yet. Winners are awarded with a role in Discord which is used to claim the token airdrops after the TGE.

Hi.
Sorry. I forgot to add it. Your phrase that the marketing mood is in a bad state makes you think about the poor work of marketing DAO, marketing consuls and approved projects. It is possible if you say: -“that marketing does not work badly, but we know how to make it better.” This will bring you more positive feedback
Thx

We would love to see you there!!! It is always a great time to hangout with the NEAR community after a long day of work

I’ve been a active community member / founder who has watched the struggling to find flow and momentum throughout the bear market. Consistent NEAR Spaces, groups who regularly and consistently reciprocate activity like RT and likes & interactions that really help to encourage community and spread information don’t seem to exist. Its been dire, for months and months now…

What appeared left after the high times seemed to fade quickly into echo chambers and big accounts working alone until almost nothing… There are some really good pockets of smaller people out there but not enough with the following and influence needed to jump start the heart attack that was our community these recent months.

Despite market conditions we should as a community be able to maintain some level of activity during these times otherwise anyone we successfully onboard to NEAR will likely leave during these times next around and I’m sure it will be harder to get them back a second time around.

NEAR @ NGHT and the NEAR Marketing DAOs recent efforts have sparked something huge on the front lines of the community. Yes there is much debate about how to fix our woes, this alone is not an all encompassing solution no, but its an important start. Please do not let it fade. We need more of these efforts, spaces and the catalysts that combine efforts to promote NEAR and keep our community experience consistent and informative.

@GenX_Artist thank you for attending and speaking at every NEAR at NIGHT! Also, huge shoutout for the epic NEAR at NIGHT graphic.

Your contributions to the NEAR ecosystem are so valuable.

The #NEARisNOW movement has empowered the community and NEAR at NIGHT gives us a voice to grow together. I am so excited to see what the NEAR community can accomplish under this unified initiative.

Hey @TroveLabs,

Thanks for the proposal with lots of detail.

A few things:
Most podcasters and streaming hosts I’ve sat with have never spent a full hour doing show-prep for one episode. And I’ve heard some of the stuff you guys have done. Imagine if you actually put in that type of time.

Repurposing and Distribution

If you can show that you’re already gaining traction, the next step is to repurpose the work across channels (you’re already doing the hardest part).

  • Multi-casting your live stream (hosts only) on Twitch / FB Live / Youtube Live
  • Repurpose and re-lease the audio recording of Twitter spaces for podcast network distribution
  • Cut up best short segments for Tiktok / Youtube Shorts / IG Reels

Of course there will be a few barriers to overcome^^^

  • Choosing the right tools
  • Properly setting up your multi-stream integration
  • Post-production (editing)
  • Scheduling

You have my support.

Hey @Klint,

Twitter Spaces is not a podcast. It is a live audio conversation that is completely open to the public, similar to Clubhouse. Repurposing content will be tricky, assuming a video element is needed. See link below to last nights NEAR at NIGHT spaces for reference. 127 people tuned in.

We spend at least an hour a day researching NEAR news, creating daily agenda, and reaching out to people to join as speakers/listeners. However, the majority of our time is spent working on the framework to onboard more Hosts from around the world, to facilitate multiple sessions per day, in different timezones. Also, the NEAR at NIGHT spaces typically run much longer than an hour. Last nights NEAR at NIGHT Spaces was an hour and a half.

Realistically we are putting in quite a bit more time into NEAR at NIGHT than what is being requested in the proposal.

Thank you for the support

Thanks for taking the time to write this detailed proposal.

NEAR @ Night is one of the several initiatives to come out of the #NEARisNOW movement. There are several things that I really like - the community stepping up and taking ownership of communications and marketing initiatives and the fact that the Marketing DAO is now able to support these new initiatives.

I have had the pleasure to attend several sessions and they are well thought out, hosts are polite and welcoming, certainly a balance between information and entertainment. It is clear how this initiative is adding value to the ecosystem.

Happy to support

I’d just like to say I’ve attended every Near at night and spoke here and there and I love it. I watched its formation and invited a few people to come along with me listen and speak. Its very informative and valuable information from founders and community leaders within the Near ecosystem.

I fully support this proposal as other chains have multiple spaces at almost any given time. If the founders and community leaders keep this up, I can see myself or others having their own spaces and stem from this to usher in new people by just being present on the socials. The best part about this is they won’t be asking for funding.

What @TroveLabs is asking for is a steal. You can’t pay influencers/founders in peanuts. Yet, its what they’re asking for…
